Are You Ready?

I asked my sister this morning , are you ready for Christmas?
She said no. haaaa.. me neither...
It's still November. I don't understand why we have to start all this so early. There have been people on my street who've had their trees up since the beginning of November.
I will still be shopping Christmas Eve to finish up. That seems to be a tradition of mine I guess. Always finding that last present or stocking stuffer to get before Christmas Day.........haaaa...

To me I am kinda exciting about the first ever Summer Christmas.

smile.....:)

words of wisdom

I
f, as Buddhism teaches, "all is in flux, and there is no permanence," how do we cope with the world around us? Do we flee from it? Do we merely resign ourselves to the fleeting nature of life? Or do we challenge it? In fact, an appreciation of the constantly changing nature of all things is the key to happiness, for it means that no matter how bad a situation is, it will change. No misfortune is permanent; no misfortune insurmountable.

I am back!!!

I've been gone for so long. I've been working on other projects
(a new studio and a new etsy shop)

6 month ago, I went home to Australia to visit my father who got scik. Surprisingly, I found some old “drawing” I did when I was a kid. I started drawing (doodling) before I could read and write. I must have been around 2 years old when I started. My daddy set out to collecting a lot of drawing from me ever since. Thanks daddy. ^V^
When I was 5 years old, I started taking drawing and painting lessons at an art school. I remembered my dad bought me Barbara Stecher's Sketchbooking as my birthday gift that year. This book raised my interest toward sketch. I started doing pen-and-ink sketches since then.
I remembered when I was in high school, in almost every weekend the art school teacher would bring us to the national park to draw. I was more concerned with the detail than the general shape of the scene. I usually sketched trees, flowers, branches and leaves. I would change their shape by adding different type of leaves or adding two more curvy branches or simplifying the flower etc. It was in those early years of practice and learning that I developed what would become the unique style I have today. ^^

This is one of my designs... i have a name for it: dancing flower.

In the slow time part #1

Like many other sellers, I am not selling well in this spring time! Last month, I only got 3 sales. This is the slowest time ever since I first opened my store! At the beginning, it was really frustrated for me and Jane. I kept thinking what should we do? It is time to give up? Or just wait and pray? No, neither we are going do. Well, “pray”, yes, but I won’t sit there and do nothing. I believe there are more valuable things we can all do to help ourselves on this critical time. First of all create a blog for the etsy store; this is what I am doing right now! During the selling season, I don’t have time to do it. Now, I have time! Second thing is to evaluate the store, to see what should I change or add. I never really go around and check carefully at my store before. I did today and found that some of my pictures are really ugly. So I decided to re-do all my pictures, take as much picture as I can, choose the best one to replace the old one!! Believe it or not, this is the best time to learn how to take better pictures. I also need a store policy, which I will write late tonight. Oh I want to have a new banner too!!! Better hurry up!!! I want to get these things done soon, and when buyers come back to my store, it will look new to them! ^^
Re-do picture #1 mermaid pendant! Still have 45 to go! Come on Gina!!!

Reflection

Thanks all the visitors; I really appreciate your encouragement. My bad day actually turned out to be a good day. The person who bought the angel earrings from me conved me and said she still want to buy from me, she would like to change it to another pair of earrings---money bags. So yeah, I am still got a sale! Holding on to my 40th sales! Big thanks to CrazyBliss.

When I started selling jewelry online, I kept asking myself a question. Make something unique or something common and salable? When I first came to ETSY, I was stunned; everything is so unique and special. At that point in time, I aware that I need to have MY own style to sell. I bet nobody wants to buy jewelry that every website has it. Now I am very happy that I can design what I want and sell it to people that are really like them.

Diva's bad day

Etsy
Buy Handmade
divalovessilver

The first time ever, I have the opportunity to use this MINI, such a good way to promote your items in one small page.

But today is a bad day for me. I have to cancel an order. It was pair of angel earrings. This morning when I started to pack the order, I found there is only one earring in the display window, the other one is missing!!!! I don’t know when it went missed and how and why. But I do know this is so unprofessional and embarrassing. I have to tell my buyer and issue a cancellation for the order.

Okey, off to check all my stock. Shame on you diva!

The Premier Post

Welcome to my blog!!! This blog is about my ETSY store: diva loves silver”. Each piece of jewelry in my store is an original creation designed by my sister Jane who is in Australia and hand forged in my studio here in Toronto. Many of my jewelry pieces are one-of-a-kind. Most of pieces are inspired by Asian and western art. For Jane, making jewelry is not for living; it is a way of expression of herself. She wants to make unique jewelry that can mean something very different to each person.

It is really boring, isn’t it? That’s why I don’t really fancy the idea of having a business blog, but seems that every Etsian has one. Anyway I decided to get started on this new project. This is the initial post. There won't be much here because I need to think up what to say. Okey, good night “everybody” and see you tomorrow.

P.S. this pendant has a name called"diva loves flower", one of my favorite.
